If you’ve been a fan of Apple laptops for a while or owned an Apple Mac before, you may very well recall the announcement of the revamped 13 and 15-inch MacBooks back in October of ‘08. The noticeable absence though was the 17-inch version of the MacBook Pro.

A few months on in January 2009, Apple announced what would feature in the soon to be released Apple Macbook Pro 2009 (2.66GHz, 17-inch) laptop. These include a button-less trackpad, “unibody” aluminium chassis, and LED backlit display with edge-to-edge glass. This makes it ideal for eager Apple fans that want the improvements of the 2009 model in a desktop replacement design.

Starting at $2799 for the 17-inch version, the Apple MacBook Pro isn’t the cheapest of laptop computers, but still remains a popular model for photographers and media professionals. The improved chassis, trackpad and integrated nVidia graphics chipset are certainly welcomed additions to this improved Mac Book Pro. Read more

MSI Wind U120 mini notebook reviews

Performace

The MSI Wind U120 uses the same 1.6-GHz Intel Atom processor as its predecessor and closest rivals, and it’s packaged with 1GB of RAM and Windows XP Home. Programs loaded relatively quickly even when we had several others running in the background. When using the netbook, we were able to surf the Web in Firefox 3, write a document in Microsoft Word 2003, and resize a handful of pictures at the same time with no hang-ups.

The MSI Wind U120’s 160GB, 5,400-rpm hard drive booted Windows XP in a solid 50 seconds, or 7 seconds faster than the category average. The notebook Transfer Test, in which we duplicate 4.97GB of mixed media files, took 5 minutes and 6 seconds, a rate of 16.6 MBps. That is about 3 MBps faster than the average netbook, but still not quite as fast as the Samsung notebook NC10 (17.4 MBps), the category frontrunner.

The MSI Wind U120’s integrated graphics scored 682 on 3DMark03 (which tests DirectX 9 performance), which is 120 points lower than the category average. Nevertheless, the system handled streaming video without a hiccup.

During testing the U120 got pretty warm. The underside of the unit peaked at 98 degrees during the battery test. Read more

After the recent trend of Apple’s MacBook present, Microsoft is still firmly maintain the opinion that although Apple has refreshed its product, but the PC still has more value. In all cases, notebook PCs in price between USD 400 to USD 550, much cheaper than the MacBook.

“This current financial crisis was greatly affects customer choice, but for the MacBook, will not be sold in a more conservative market. Customers can get a laptop PC with a larger hard drive capacity, bigger RAM, and a media card reader, USB port, and a large screen, far away when compared to what the MacBook has to offer. “, Said the Microsoft.

But one of the reasons why Microsoft made the ad “I’m a PC ads”, which then responded well by Apple, is to show how one must see the reality when choosing a PC. “Apple had never played the price. Nmun fact I think the message in the ad is good. “, Said Dave Sobel, CEO of Evolve Technologies, which became the main partner Microsoft.

“PC notebook does have a price below USD 1000 for many years. It is reasonable to understand that the Apple MacBook has appealed to all people, but this seems to make Microsoft be wrong. “, Said Todd Swank, vice president of marketing at Nor-Tech, in Minnesota. Microsoft may just make arguments about the price, especially after the MacBook PC into a competitor.

“MacBook did not have enterprise applications, such as Outlook, Visio, and Project. Then what would happen if while for now there are many people who prefer to use these applications and Office? “, Said John Eaton, president of Eaton & Associates, San Francisco, who became partners Microsoft and Apple
